We have all sorts of special days, honouring family members, presidents, saints, events, royalty; special mention of seasonal shifts such as solstices and equinoxes, and we have our heroes and new world discoverers that have had calendar dates allotted them. And why not, so we should remember and celebrate those that have sufficiently impacted our past.
To carry on in that tradition, I would suggest we create a day of fun and games for our pets. Those family members that provide us with unconditional love, (well dogs do anyways) are always happy and excited to see us, and provide us with cuddles, loyalty, and in many cases cuteness.
A day devoted to our pets could get people out and sharing activities, and conversation about their furry critter experiences. Dog walks can be organized, cat shows can take place in our parks and rabbits and lizards, parrots and canaries, can all come out for the occasion.
Research indicates that people that have pets live longer, have less stress impact on their bodies and are basically happy. A pet c an make you feel needed, and promotes the feeling of being connected in the circle of life. Studies have shown that while stroking a cat or dog, or other pet, stress levels in the body are reduced.
Yes, I think that organizing a pet day would be an added plus in our calendar year.
